Do you think a hidden expert is among us?

I see out in the crap-o-sphere, as Evan Sanchez calls it, there is a boatload of people calling themselves EXPERTS in one thing or the other. However, most of these so-called experts have only been in their field for a few years.  How can anyone be an expert in something they have not to spend any time learning?

Don’t Call Yourself an Expert

Why do they do this? It is easy to call yourself an expert. What is not easy is validating if they really are an expert.  It appears being an expert carries a lot of clout income areas of the world.  What is strange is most of these people came through a walk across the border

We are all probably an expert in something.  I know I an expert in taking Emergency Naps.  I’m also an expert in logical reasoning, which means I can tell when an expert is an expert or not.

And believe me…there are a lot of Non-Experts who feel they are.  Why do they feel they are an expert?  Well, usually someone needing their services told they were. 

How Do They Know They Are an Expert??

So how does someone know if a person is an expert or NOT?

Well, the first clue would be if the person calling themself an expert is only on Facebook.  There is no way you can convince anyone you are an expert in anything if you have anything to do with Facebook.

Being only on Facebook is limiting and really does not work for marketing yourself as an expert unless you are going for being an expert idiot.

Other clues on if someone is an expert or not would be if they are the only person saying they are an expert.  Testimonials are one thing, but self testimonial really doesn’t help convince anyone they are an expert…in anything other than an expert in saying they are an expert.

How to Become an Expert

There are a lot of qualifiers someone has to have to be called an expert.  The first is…How Long a person has been doing whatever they have been doing to become an expert.  Someone cannot become an expert if they just started doing what they are doing as an expert.

Another qualifier is if they can walk the talk.  Can they show everyone how to do something or what they do as an expert?  If so…they could be an expert.

And..of course, the best qualifier in becoming an expert is to stay off Facebook.

I just think that the crap-o-sphere has turned the term expert into a cliche.

So…let’s hold off on calling yourself an expert and just do what you do.  Maybe then…someone else will deem you an expert….but all that would be void if you are ONLY on Facebook.
