I’m sure somewhere there is a long list of statistics I could list showing the number of businesspeople still working out of coffee shops.
Some of the reports will show there are many fewer of them now than there was a few weeks ago.
Need For Safety and Staying Healthy
If you are one of these business people, what the point of all these reports will clearly show is…Now is the time to move your business from a shared workspace existence to being safely behind the close doors of a private office.
Yes, I know, There will be sacrifices to be made if you move to a private office.
Unfortunately, you will miss those constant distractions the person sitting across from you provides each morning when she spills her coffee all over the shared desk she has with you and from the dude in flip flops walking around the open workspace sneezing on everyone.
Your Consumers Deem Safety
But you will thank me when you start getting more business and your clients will probably give you a HUGE virtual hug for thinking of them.
Predictions on the COVID-19 pandemic continuing for more than a year are all over the place. Misinformation on what is going on with the spread of the COVID-19 virus is pouring out of Facebook faster than the clickbait posts on Twitter.
Believe Your Doctor
Who should you believe when you are told why NOW is the time to move into a private office?
Well, you might talk to your doctor. Doctors seem to be the only ones who have to sift through the real and unreal reports on the severity of the COVID-19 virus.
That is the case with my Dr who showed me a video he made of the tour he has to make through the COVID ICU that was set up at Presbyterian Hospital. It was not a pretty sight to see people really suffering.
Believe Who You Gotta Believe
But, you believe who you want.
The fact is, we all have to go back to work in order to pay our bills and the safest place to work is in an environment you control.
True, working from home is safe and works for a very small percent of people currently working. However, for the vast majority of small business owners, and people working for small businesses, upholding a professional image is very important. Being readily available to their consumers is the difference between being in business and going out of business.
Private Office Saves You Business
Sitting in your kitchen talking to people on Zoom was…and still is…a temporary workaround until processes on dealing with the pandemic could be figured out.
Now after more than 200 days of social distancing and wearing PPE face masks this has proved to work to curb the spread of the virus. Also, it was found that people working in closed-door offices are less likely to contract the virus than those sitting in an open shared workspace.
That is why many of the shared workspace facilities are now considering doing away with their open shared workspace and setting up small glassed-in cubicles that have doors. Or, constructed more walled offices with glassed fronts and sliding doors.
Non-Shared Workspace Is the Future
This move the shared workspace facilities are considering making to offering more private offices is probably the best business decision for them to make. Reports are showing that even before the COVID pandemics the shared workspace business’ consumers, the solopreneur, interest in having their business being located on a leather couch in a shared workspace was waining rapidly.
The need for micro-businesses to have a physical location is being forced by their consumers’ demand in only doing business with trustworthy professionals. Small business owners were finding it hard to build trust with their consumers after they find the person is working out of a PO Box.
Make The Move or Go Out of Business
The COVID-19 shutdown highlighted a number of small business leader’s weaknesses and working from a shared workspace was just one.
Now that owners of a business have found they need to stay focused on keeping themselves, their employees, vendors and customers safe, having a private office made perfect business sense.
So, do you see why NOW is the perfect time to move your business into a private office? There is where I am now.
Let me know how I can help.
