It is interesting to me when people learn I have been blogging for over 17 years and have posted over 3500 blogs. That is a long time and it is a lot of blogs.
The first question I am asked after someone learns how long I have been blogging is… How do you come up with what I blog about?
What To Blog About
The answer is simple.
I blog about:
- things that go on in my life
- what people bring to me to help them with
- and the thousands of questions people ask me.
In The Beginning
Early on I use to bring to my blog all the things that happen during one of the hundreds of rounds of business golf I played. Believe me…I left a large number of good topics out on the golf course. Playing golf generates thousands of potential blog topics.
Passing On My Experience
Later, I found expanding on a comment I made to someone’s post on LinkedIn as being of interest and yes…the exposure to the dark side of online social networking took up a lot of what I blogged about..and still does.
The No-No’s of Blogging
I stay away from politics and ALL of the issues that are polarizing our society. I keep to myself and would rather talk about the few things left that do not upset people. I search for the lighter side of life and like to expose my wit.
My Challenges
I am not the best at using grammar and if it wasn’t for Google Spell Check I would have probably given up blogging a long time ago.
Of course, my geriatric dyslexia is a challenge I face daily but I keep at it.
It is not unusual for me to rewrite an entire blog after proofing it and sometimes there will be a few confusing sentences that will slip through.
Blogging now is my release. Blogging forces me to organize my thoughts and it is not uncommon that I change my opinion or thought towards something after I get my thoughts organized.
However, I usually find a conclusion to each of my blogs. I try to keep my point clear and I state it at the very end of each of my blogs by saying…Let me know how I can help.
