The LinkedIn Lead Generation Program Fallacy

February 25, 2020 By Scot Duke

I frequently wonder if the business people on LinkedIn who buy into one of the multitudes of Business Lead Generation Programs realize the negative image created from the automated messages that are generated when someone accepts their invitation to connect?

Or is the .01% of the positive responses they receive from the auto-generated messages worth having a negative image to the remaining 99.9% of us?

After spending a few hours on Google searching for articles that outline the reasons why LinkedIn business lead generation programs do not work I found it was obvious that possibly LinkedIn has developed a social media campaign of blogs and articles that all had strongly stated redundant statements on why they worked. All presenting unverifiable data that support the work.

This campaign pushed to the fifth page of Google the real stories of why they don’t work.

Nonetheless, the way these programs go about generating business leads is really the problem more than the concept they have in rounding up potential business.

You Are Creeping Out Your LinkedIn Connections

What is happening when a LinkedIn user gets an immediate reply after accepting someone’s invitation to connect is really a formal level of Spam.

Why Take the Risk???

Obviously, there are a large number of questions concerning why anyone would want to use one of these programs that blindly send a message out to anyone accepting an invitation to connect.

  • How does an unwanted message generate a business lead?
  • How many spam messages do you want to receive in your LinkedIn inbox?
  • Would you want to do business with anyone spamming you to sell you a business lead program?
  • Would you trust that the leads you get from one of these business generating programs to be real leads or just angry people who just got a message board full of Spam?

And many, many more!!!

How Should You Generate Business Leads?

Every attempt to generate business leads has to have a strategy developed well before attempting to gather up leads.

The best strategy I have found is to meet people face-to-face.  That way you can see if what you are offering is being accepted.

Gaining acceptance is key.

How Do You Gain a Business’ Acceptance?

Video marketing opens more doors to generating potential business than any Business Lead Generation Program.

Yes, you need a program to capture profile information once the videos go to work.  That capture system should not include any Spam Emails.

Most people who buy into these LinkedIn Business Lead Generation Programs have no strategy.  That is why they fail to gain acceptance.

What Works Best?

If you are in need of finding potential business and you are in a business that only fits a small niche or has limited interest to the general public…my suggestion would be to hire a salesperson or a consultant that can develop a sound strategy that includes video marketing.

Let me know how I can help.
