Why Businesses Need to Start Thinking Long Term Video Marketing

A video can last as long as the message or story being told is still relevant.  However, consumers are very demanding and get bored very easily.  Shoppers will no longer tolerate the same Old Video they have seen for more than 6 months.   They like things …Fresh!

A discussion should be had during your video-centric digital marketing strategy sessions on how to keep your video marketing fresh.  It is very important to know that most successful video-centric digital marketing strategies are based on the release of new videos frequently throughout a minimum of 12 months.  

We have found from the 6 years we have been developing strategies that 6 months is the shortage term we have developed that resulted in a moderate level of success towards meeting the set goals.  However, when we extended the strategy to 12 months success was achieved much easier and well within the term of the strategy. 

Type of Video Matters

Some videos, like Profile Videos, will usually contain content that does not change frequently.  Since nothing ever remains the same and that goes for the content in a Profile Video.  We recommend that profile videos are looked at least every 6 months and be redone annually.

Other videos, like Explainer Videos, that contain content about New or Trending methods or products, may need to be updated frequently.  What you had to say about how your services work to solve a particular problem might need to be enhanced in 60 days.  Launching a New enhanced version of an explainer video creates excitement in the market and will usually draw in a new audience to see what they missed out on that was in the original video.

Thought Out Strategy Produces Results

The good thing about developing a Long Term video-centric digital marketing strategy is the production cost per video becomes very manageable.   The one thing marketers need to accept is that the cost of video-centric digital marketing can be shocking.  However, you have to stop and ask…what is the cost of NOT using a video-centric digital marketing strategy?

The mistake most marketers make with their video marketing is they will go for producing only One Video thinking that one video should do the job. 

In reality, the best video-centric strategy consists of producing, at a minimum of, one new video each month for the first year.  Annual evaluation of the impact the video marketing is having on the strategy will determine the number of videos needed for the next cycle or phase of the strategy.

Bottom line: Long term video marketing strategies produce more results than a one-off video marketing strategy.  Six-month evaluation of strategies allows for changes to be made in the direction and the outcome.  Twelve-month evaluations allow for evaluation of the overall marketing strategy.
