I am frequently asked by the many Freelancers of the business world if it would be better if they just partnered with a small group of synergetic individuals instead of roaming around constantly having to sell themselves.
My answer leans towards developing a Partnership with others who provide more sustainability instead of the rat race of Freelancing.
Of course, either have their Pros and Cons.
Partnership PROS
- Partnerships work when all partners take on a specific part of the business.
- More focus on what each partner does instead of all partners having to do pieces of everything
- Partnerships have the ability to form a solid operation.
Partnership CONS
- Hard for a partner to divorce themselves from the partnership.
- Conflicts can brew quickly
Freelancer PROS
- No bosses or partners to answer to.
- Work on whatever you want to when you want to
Freelancer CONS
- Always have to be a salesperson
- Miss deliverable dates because you had to stop production or operations to go out and sell.
- Usually are looked down at by the person who is hiring you due to the image Freelancers have with not being able to work others on a team.
- Reach burnout quickly
I suggest freelancers and tradesmen join a business network group of filled with business people who could connect them to partnerships who need their skills.
