Has anyone figured out how to say Goodbye to the Internet? OH, I know it is easy to say goodbye to Facebook..or maybe even Twitter, but to the Internet?
The internet, or as it used to be called the World Wide Web, has been around for over 25 years now. That is a span of an entire generation of people.
Has anyone ever retired from the internet? Yes, there have been many who just unplugged but that was not due to them retiring as much as just not being able to handle the internet personally or professionally. Nonetheless, they left the internet without saying goodbye.
Then there are a number of people I see on the internet who I am sure we all feel needs to say goodbye to the internet, but we know they will not.
Let’s just say you spent 25 years out here in LaLaLand and you are ready to call it quits. Do you just delete all your fake Facebook accounts, get extra batteries for your PS2 and head out to the rocking chair on the back porch to spend your remaining days?
But seriously, if you have spent your time here professionally and its now time to leave the building…how do you say goodbye to the internet?
Can you even say goodbye entirely? Will Facebook let you retire. I figure Google has enough on me to immortalize me for a few centuries.
Ultimately, nature will take its course and people pass on..most without saying goodbye. Of course, it is not necessary to say goodbye to people you don’t know.
Will, that be it? I don’t think so. From what I can tell if you posted anything on the internet over the past 25 years it probably is in some archive at Google.
So, maybe you can’t say goodbye to the internet. You may be able to say goodbye to the people you meet, but the internet will keep you around for a long time.
So let’s just say “See you later instead of Goodbye when the time comes to say “Goodbye”…because if someone tried they could still find you on the internet.
Let me know how I can help.
