All avid shoppers who travel know that every major city in the USA has a Galleria shopping mall, but as Galleries go, the one in Edina, MN, tops the chart of Awesomeness.
For a Galleria, the Edina, MN mall is on the small size, but it is packed with the best the Twin Cities can offer.
The Galleria is the upper Midwest’s most uncommon shopping gallery offering exclusive fashion, home, beauty and dining moments.
Located south of downtown Minneapolis.
Where To Go
If you are traveling with a Possee like I do and the call goes out for a shopping trip, it is good to scope out a good spot to meet and for the Trail Boss to sit comfortably while eating his Spicy Tuna Roll. The Galleria in Edina was thinking of this with their very comfortable waiting areas.
HISTORY
The Galleria began with Gabbert’s Furniture Store in 1976. That same year, construction began to add shops connected to Gabbert’s, and then to add a full enclosure, like the Southdale Center across the street.
In 2004, the Galleria Edina garnered attention in the shopping center industry by implementing the then-novel idea of an electronic gift registry where registrants may specify items from multiple merchants at the center.
In 2006, the Galleria Edina received City Council approval for an expansion project and site development. The Galleria’s plan included an $85 million project attaching a Westin hotel.
What To See
Galleria offers five distinct dining experiences with Pittsburgh Blue, Good Earth Restaurant, CRAVE, Peoples Organic Coffee & Wine Cafe and Big Bowl.
I was a little disappointed with the Chef at CRAVE not knowing how to make a Spicy Tuna Handroll, but the regular sushi roll was good.
If you get some time on your next visit to the Twin Cities, make sure to check out the Galleria in Edina!
And of course’ let me know how I can help.
