Like most major cities around the world, there is going to be Big Box guitar stores and mega mammoth Music Centers that are great for the guitarist looking for volumes of items to look at, but run short of satisfying guitar geeks like me.
Then there are the guitar shops doing business in a small box owned and managed by people focused on guitars. Here in Addison, Texas (the capital of North Dallas) the Tone Shop Guitars opened to service guitarist interested in quality products offered to you by experienced personnel in a “No Stairway to Heaven Opening Rift Played Here Unless You Are Jimmy Page” environment.
This is not to say from time to time a blues rift is cranked out by one of the techs in the service bays located in the middle of the store, or a Taylor Swift melody being softly strummed in the awesome acoustic guitar showrooms. Or Mike Doty, my store representative for the afternoon, demoing how a to take the Country out of a Fender Telecaster…Music to my ears.
All In The Attitude
If you are like most modern guitarist, whose moods swing rapidly from a Stevie Ray Vaughn rendition to a Dimebag Darrel Abbott fret burner, then you are going to go blind looking at all of the Pedals. If there is not a pedal effect that does what you want..I take it TSG has someone standing by to tweak one for you if not make one custom.
Located In The Capital of North Dallas
Tone Shop Guitar is located a little off the beaten path which most interesting things to see in Dallas are in secluded places. However, for native Dallasites like me..places like TSG can’t hide for us.
I suggest that if you know how to make a fifth fret power chord then Tone Shop Guitar would be of major interest to you. Stop by and let me know if you see the big hearts in a small box like I did.
No, I did not get paid for posting this blog. Just goes to show you that from time to time I find something I WANT to talk about and show you something that could be of interest to you if you have the same interest as me.
Guitar Niche says
As a former small music store owner myself for many years, I still to this day point my regular guitar service clients in the direction of the local mom & pop store for supplies. If it’s belly-to-belly service you want, you simply can’t beat a relationship with someone who has a stake in his own community.
Cheers!
