As most of you know I have been on the Google+..or Plus…since before it was launched to the public. It was, and still has the potential to be, the best product Google has ever launched.
However, it seems Google does not seem to realize this.
Studying Google+
It took sometime…over three months to be exact…for me to run down every rabbit hole of every feature available in Google+ to find out how:
- it exactly worked…
- what benefit it would be to someone…
- and who would benefit from it the most.
From that self taught learning experience I did what I always do…I gave back, to those people who share my interest in Google+, by training them on the ‘In’s & Out’s of Google+.
Expert Overdose
OH, there are many other Plussers out there who are more visible than I am in announcing to the world their training for Google+ and took more initiative to marketing themselves as Google + Experts, but that was not for me.
You’ll not find me attempting to compete with the seemingly thousands of people, places and things promoting ‘All Things Google+” because I see no need in doing that. An Expert I am, a showman I am not.
I cater to the mainstream business world. Yes, I know a lot of leaders in the fortune 1000 corporations who wield a lot power in the economy …thus, I know what the real business world thinks of the internet and what they want out of the internet. And what they want is for there to be ONLY one place for ‘All Things Social’.
Businesses got what they wanted in ‘All Things Business’ with LinkedIn…now they want the ocean of social networks culled down to only One. Seems they have..or had…their eye on Google+. Wonder of Google knows this?
How Businesses Leaders Think Should Matter to You
What businesses think of Google+ is of interest to me…and should be to you…since over 85% of my contacts see Google+ a much better platform for internet marketing than Facebook or Twitter. Why?
That’s simple….Google+ is a Search Engine Magnet. Everything posted on Google+ is immediately searchable. This one fact about Google+ scars many people. Not everyone has completely accepted the fact the internet is commerce driven instead of being a social domain.
Businesses are what pay for all of the programming and the huge profits made by the founders of the remaining social networks. So, why would anyone feel the social networks would care about someone’s high school reunion and kid’s soccer game? They are only interested in getting their users’ eyes hitting on the advertisements businesses pay them to put in front of them.
Businesses are starting to now fully embracing what the internet can offer them in the form of delivering a message to consumers. Google is..and will always be…a leader in data gathering on where a business’ consumers gather. Google knows where to find the consumers for every type of business. This is the main advantage Google has over the Facebook and Twitter game. So, why shouldn’t businesses be interested in everything Google has to offer?
Fortunately, consumers…yes, that is you…should not fear Google. If you are out here using the internet like you should be then Google is your friend. Google can answer all of your questions…provide you with information on things you do not understand and, yes, Google will also provide with you information you do not want or need. A very small price to pay for all Google can do to enhance your life.
But What About My Privacy?
OH, yes..privacy. At this point many of you are starting to think about privacy by saying…“I don’t want Google to know everything about me”…or “I am not on the internet to feed Google’s machine”. For those of you who feel this way the question becomes… Why are you on the internet then?
The simple solution to pricy on the internet is to NOT POST anything Private on the internet…bada bing.
If you have not realized it yet, the internet is not a private closed circuit network created just for your entertainment. It never was…and will never be. If you feel strongly it should be I suggest you sign off now and crawl back under the rock you will be living under.
Enough said.
If Businesses Like Google+ Why Doesn’t Google?
But enough of what Google does and does not do. Let’s get back to why Google is no doing the Right thing with Google+.
I mean, let’s be frank..when was the last time you heard anyone in the mainstream media sometime during their program or article…”Please check us out on Google+!!!” ..or, “Make sure to Circle our Google+ Page!!” You haven’t because Google has not stopped by all the mainstream media broadcasting networks to show them what G+ can offer them or set up offices in the top advertising firms so to be available to show how G+ could support their client’s marketing campaigns.
Why?
Well, that has been the question I have been trying to get the answer to from anyone in Google for over three years now. To be more specific..in case Google is reading this…why isn’t Google Marketing Google+ in any shape or form?
Google’s lack of interest in answering this question can only lead me….and the thousands of businesses asking me this question…that they don’t really care about Google+.
I don’t want to think that way…but what chose has Google given us. I would rather think Google being more run by mainly program and data engineers doesn’t really realize the true strength of Google+ as a marketing tool for businesses. I would rather think Google is not aware of G+ having the potential of putting Facebook out of business.
I’ll give Google credit with knowing Twitter’s weakness and jumping on the opportunity to bring the #4 most popular social network under their wing.
Google Could Use Support
For sometime now…like since the beginning…Google has relied on it’s users…or ‘Contributors’ as Google call them…to market Google+. Again, this appears to be the Google engineering thinking of getting engineer/programmers to market a marketing tool.
What Google has available to them is an Awesome Marketing group. Why aren’t they using them? They know how to Market…so why aren’t they Marketing G+. Why aren’t they making any effort to make the users of Google+…Plussers as they are called…proud to use Google+?
Why isn’t Google reaching out to support people like me, the non-engineer overly experienced business consultants, who can lead a strong message out to the street in the form of training more businesses to effectively use Google+ , along with all of the Google Tools, to their advantage.
Once the business community understands Google+ they will see what I see…an outstanding marketing tool. Once businesses come on board Google+ here come the consumers who are looking for the best deals which in a short time would bring Google+ up to where it should be…the Only Social Network that matters.
So, why isn’t Google thinking this way about Google+? Does anyone know?
Let me know how I can help.
