Over the past few years the question of..Where are all the Plussers?…keeps coming up. Right now there are reportedly 2.3 Billion users on Google+. Who created the report is uncertain. Validating the report by someone creditable is not possible. Still, even with the lack of validated stats for any of the social networks it would be a logical assumption for someone like me who actually uses Google+ daily to feel there are far more users using Google+ than those who do not use Google+ want to believe.
Apparently, the lack of an official answer from Google for this question is keeping a large number of people from using Google+ who really,really should be using Google+ instead of the other social networks they are attempting to utilize. WHY?
WHY Use Google+?
Deep down in everyone’s purpose of being on the internet is to be found. No matter how much someone wants to deny they are not wanting to be found they really are…or why would they be online? Every business is out to be found by their consumers which makes their purpose of being online very clear. Google+ is far better at exposing someone’s content to the public..or their consumers. Google+ is also far better at delivering a variety of information.
This is why everyone who values their time available to being online should be using Google+ more than the other spaces.
Nonetheless, the question on where the Google+ users are remains. Unfortunately, Google not doing anything to answer this question is not helping those of us who do use Google+.
How Plussers Are Seen
Google not marketing Google+ tends to portray the users of Google+ as an enigma. Or, that is how none Google+ users see those who only use Google+.
This lack of understanding..or better described as lack of wanting to understand…Google+ by so many people places a dark shadow over Google+. No matter what a Plusser says to explain the advantages Google+ has over the other social spaces they are shutdown…or deemed to be incompetent.
Some of the influencers for the other social platforms have even gone as far as belittle Plussers in public by telling crowds of people they are talking to that ..”anyone using Google+ is really wasting their time.” As a result of being provided any marketing support by Google most Plussers stay under the radar with their interaction on Google+, thus making the public stream appear to be lacking interaction.
Where Are the Plussers
There are truly a very large percentage of the Google+ users who are more active than they appear publicly primarily due to them interacting privately with large numbers of their following. They interact privately in Communities and Now Collections. Many use Private Google Hangouts. This underground interaction keeps any data search to not show these users as being active, but they are.
This does not mean they are not watching what is going on in their Google+ Stream. It also doesn’t mean these Plussers do not know how to use Google+ to be found. Anyone who takes Google+ seriously knows that all; content shared on Google+ is immediately searchable. So, Plussers will bring the important issues out of the private conversations to the public stream so it can be included in a Google Search. this is how they ‘Get Found’.
It is unfortunate there are so many people who will not get involved with a social endeavor unless it is reported to have trillions of viewers. Google+ may appear statistically not to have the interaction of other sites. However, the content for the interaction that is taking place on Google+ is being seen by more people than are on all social platforms put together. That is import for socialites as well as social mediaist.
