I know…the title of this blog is kind of a ‘Come On’ title, but does that really matter? The answer to that question is Yes, the question I ask overall covers a lot of ground when it comes to… just about everything.
However, since right now we are out here on the internet, let’s take a look at how you use the internet and see if it really does matter.
It Really Does Matter
I would be safe to say most of you are out here on the internet to find the answer to a question you have and this question seemed to be one that caught your eye.
The rest of you, I will take it, are a fan of mine and know that I could take a change in direction on where I am going with this question at anytime during this blog..for which, most of the time I do.
This time however I will try to focus on what really matters out here in what is commonly known as La-La-Land.
La-La-Land Reality
The internet get’s its nickname..La-La-Land..because nearly all of it can be ..gasp of surprise...manipulated. As far as you know I could have paid some dude, or dudette, a $1 or $100 to write this blog.
That happens out here a lot. But, I did not. How can you tell??..well..the grammar and possible spelling errors you find will tell you it is REALLY me.
But, I digress..back to what really matters.
Making the Unbelievable Believable
Actually, knowing what you are doing on the internet and who you are socialize with out here really matters. Not knowing that statistics can be generated to say whatever the creator wants them to say is probably the basic weakness many non-tech individuals have with the internet.
Most people using the internet for the first time take it that everything posted on the internet is the absolute truth. Why not? The information is produced in a professional looking manner in a very slick design so as to give a serious image. If you are wanting someone to believe something that is wrong is right..just hire a design company. They can make it look believable.
For instance… Do you really believe there are as many people using Facebook as Zuckerberg wants you to think there is? Are the people you socialize with on Facebook really..a real person? Most of the time the answer is going to be yes because it is someone you know, but is it really?
So What Really Matters?
Does it really matter? It shouldn’t…but unfortunately there are a very large number of people on Facebook who think it matters how those few they know on Facebook will think of them if they left Facebook.
I could go on with examples of how businesses manipulate the social spaces and how the social spaces manipulate the offline media to painting a rosy picture of their social site, but does it really matter?
The answer to the question is Yes! But don’t take it from me.
Go look and see for yourself. What you find is people relate to others out here in La-La-Land by what social space they use. Those who are still left on Facebook are looked at by those who use other sites as people not interested in the realities of social networking. Those people on Facebook see the people not on Facebook as losers. That…makes it matter.
Starting to Really Matter
So, it is starting to really matter what social space you use, but should it matter? No, it shouldn’t but that is how things work out here in La-La-Land.
What should really matter to YOU is if where you are online, and how you are using the social space, is providing you with the results you are expecting. If it is then it doesn’t matter. If it is not…then it should matter. Why? Because life is too short to spend time doing anything that is not providing the results you are expecting.
Unfortunately, doing business or socializing in a vacuum of a social space filled with less caring consumers does not make for time well spent. The best advice is to spend your time online producing content that is searchable. Does that Really Matter?
