Why Google+ Matters

google-plus onlyI’m sure you have heard people remark on their thinking Google+ doesn’t really matter.  For some, G+ may not matter, however for businesses…OH Boy…Google+ really does matter.

Yes, G+ can be considered a social network.  There is in fact a lot of socializing going on in my Google+ stream which I totally enjoy.

Fortunately, there is also commerce taking place on Google+ as well.  Today, Business marketing comes in the form of information..not sales pitches.

Consumers Matter

Did you know consumer are more likely to purchase a product or service after they learn more about it?  Yes, that is how consumers thinks today.

Even if the consumer is not aware of a product, or service, the first thing they will do is search for where they can learn more about the product.

Social Search

You may have noticed I used the word ‘Search’.  That is because people using ‘Social Search’ is how doing business on the internet has changed.  Consumers search..and more than likely they search Google.

Now, many of you who have been around the SEO industry know for the past 8 years Google has been pulling back on the reins of the out of control dark-side SEO and I, amongst millions of others, thank them for starting to clean up that mess.

Along with creating a better search experience Google also created G+ so quality content can be posted for their search spiders to find.   A very smart move on Google’s part.

A Matter of Fact

What does this have to do with why Google+ matters?  Well, it matters because now businesses do not have worry about being edgy or budgeting millions to produce the next trending video just to capture the attention of the consumer.  All they have to do now is post quality compelling information about why their product or service is awesome.

Now, don’t get me wrong, consumers are also out to find entertainment and cool stuff online.  The social spaces make for a great place to be self entertained.

However, when it comes time to buy something the autoawesome muting stops and the serious fact finding begins.  If a business’ product or service is not found on Google…well…you know…they missed a selling opportunity.

Got to Have Google Search

So, let’s get back to the Google+ and that search stuff.  As many of you may know..especially those of you who are faithful followers of this blog…Google+ is amongst the first places Google Spiders goes to find the content it offers a user of their search engine.  That is why the posts people make on G+ show up on the first page of Google.

Yes, those are organic search results because the content was not contrived ..none of that manipulated search results that the dark-side produces.  This means, a business…large or small…is more likely to be found on the first page of Google if..and this is a BIG IF…they use Google+.

This is why Google+ matters.  This is why more businesses need to put more effort into using Google+.  This is also why more consumers need to use Google+.

So, stop fighting using G+…it really does matter.  Let me know how I can help.
