This question surrounds the notion many social media community managers have developed towards there not being a need to interact with their Google Plus (G+) viewers. Many social mediaist who post content to G+s as a representative of a business generally never go back to their G+ stream. Yes, these are the same marketing people who will attend a social media conference to boast about the lameness of Google+.
In reality, none of them have the slightest idea who they are talking to on Google+ or how G+ really works.
Many businesses lack interest in interacting on Google+. Usually these are the same businesses who disabled their comments in their blog.
Awhile back, the infamous Seth Godin explained why he disabled comments on his blog. Unfortunately, this advice was taking as gospel by thousands of business leaders as to how they are to behave everywhere online. His suggestion has trickled down to the everyday social mediaist.
Fortunately, unlike a blog, the viewers of the G+ stream usually have something of value to say when they make a comment to a post. Those who cut off communications to their G+ community clearly do not know who they are talking to on Google Plus.
Take The Time
It is true, it does take time to interact or respond to a comment. Most businesses site time management reasons as why they do not interact to comments, while others site their reasons for not interacting to viewers as they are just following the advice from their consultants.
There is a huge need for businesses of all sizes to build trust and strengthen their relationships with their consumers. What it all boils down to is the fact today businesses need to interact with viewers of their content in order to show they are truly involved with improving their image online..
There is a tremendous reward for interacting with consumer many businesses are not aware they can gain on Google+. Why do they not know this? It’s very simple.
Most businesses still do not take the internet seriously and feel that everything done online is based on what Facebook and Twitter does.
