I’m sure you have already been told what it takes to get people to interact with you on your blog or you have read outlines on what it takes to get anyone to comment on your blog. Either way, it is tough to get people to make comments on a blog. I know, because I very seldom get comments on this blog site. So, I set out to study this and here is what I found.
Here are 5 Reasons I found as Why People Do Not Comment on Blogs.
#1 Have to Be A Member
You have probably see the many, many, many blog sites over the past two years that require you to be a member of some comment platform. Requiring a viewer to have to sign up for some other site in order to make a comment is OK if it is Google+, but most blog developers are making it a huge deterrent to making a comment on the blog post.
#2 Afraid of Being Spammed
Really, this is probably closer to the number reason many viewers will not comment on a blog since many bloggers capture commenters contact information and will immediately start sending out spammy newsletters or emails.
#3 No Time
A number of blogs I have reviewed have posts so long and so full of links to other sites that by the time a viewer reads all the content they don’t have time to make a comment, or can’t remember what the blog is about. Being long winded is what blogging is all about, but many bloggers are starting to write novels. Shorter blogs are more likely to get comments than the very long articles.
#4 Blog Site Looks Like a Scam-fest
Really. If you have ever surfed around out here in La-la-land you have seen the blog sites that look to be created to lure you into buying something. Most viewers are not out to buy anything. They are out to gain knowledge about something..hopefully in this case knowledge on why people are not commenting on blogs. Many bloggers develop sites that are covered with banner ads and full of the dreaded..gasp…Pop-Up Sign Up for Newsletters. It is surprising how these blogs sites still get comments after the gauntlet they set up for viewers. Just think how many more comments they would get if they hadn’t scared off viewers.
#5 Unfocused Blog
Yes, you have seen them. My blog could be considered one of the trillions of blog sites filled with posts about more than one subject. Seems viewers are not interested in comment on a site like this. Why? Well, I have been told it was due to me not being focused. Many have said they don’t want to comment because my grammar and spelling is awful. A few say what I have to say is irrelevant. Others don’t want to debate logic. Of course, it could be that people are really burned out on commenting on anyone’s blog because there is usually no response from the author on the comment. My response to this is..you’ve not made a comment on my blog are you would know I respond to everyone…even the spammers. If you are a blogger you know the five reasons why people do not comment on your blog. You might consider correcting your blog design so viewers will want to comment. If you are a viewer you will find there is no deterrents here for posting a comment. Remember, interaction and discussion is how everyone learns and making a comment is the start of that interaction. Comment away. Let me know how I can help.
