I was having lunch in a cafe recently when I overheard the young lady at the table next to me say to the others in her group…
Did you see the Video on the new BMW that is coming out?
Naturally, hearing women talking about cars is what initially caught my attention, however, it was the over all theme of their conversation I wanted to report to you on.
Can’t Watch Just One Video
Seems this one question asked to others on if they saw a video started an nearly hour long conversation amongst this group on all of the videos they recently viewed. Interesting enough, none of the videos they mentioned were the obnoxious random stupid stuns millions of people video in hopes it attracts attention.
No..they were talking about videos for products and services. Plus, it sure made my BLT taste better when I heard one of them mention… Google+ sure makes it easy to find cool videos.
For sometime now the interest in viewing videos on the internet has steadily increase. Over the past two years the number videos viewed per minute on YouTube has been nearly vertical on the charts. Traffic driven to web-sites who showcase videos has also increased over 400% over the past two years.
So, why aren’t more businesses using videos.
Quality Video Produces Sales
SyncLab Media’s studies indicate more people are using videos marketing on their web-site and their traffic is increasing. The studies are also showing businesses investing in quality video production are actually producing more sales leads than those who insist on using the ‘everyday person’ casual style DIY videos in their office or bedroom. In most cases the DIY webcam level videos many businesses are producing are turning people away.
These results seemed to be confirmed from the conversation I was eavesdropping in on. It was clear from what I heard the videos produced with high definition, studio quality audio, compelling graphics are the videos consumers are watching.
So why aren’t more businesses producing the quality video productions?
Sticker Shock
Most businesses are still seeing social media as a money pit..a fade…something worthless towards generating revenue. Since social media is not a service that produces an exact value or specific amount of revenue many businesses will not make the needed investment in social media.
On the other hand, those same businesses who shun social media are the same businesses who are losing market share to their competitors who do make the investment into effective methods of social media.
It is true, there is no verifiable form of tracking the ROI of a business’ digital footprint. As a result social media would appear to many to be a money pit, but so is television, radio and the print media.
Videos Marketing Rules
The key to gaining results from any digital marketing strategy is to have information posted where the consumers are gathering and that place is clearly is YouTube. Videos are now the mainstay of what consumers prefer to use to gain information on something of interest.
Seems this group of ladies discussing videos are just a few of millions of people preferring to gain knowledge on something via quality produced videos instead of from some dude and his laptop in his office. Seems quality again is being mandated by the consumers and is how they want to be sold to.
Still amazes me how many businesses do not see the value of a quality video.
Hope your business is not one of them. Let me know how I can help.
