One of the goals many businesses are told the Have to meet by the people who produce the onslaught of calls telling everyone they can help them with their search engine presence is they Have To Be On The First Page of Google.
“OK. You got me on the first page of Google by convincing me to get after it on Google+ and get social. Now What?“
I hear this a lot from the people who come to me after they get these calls and it sometimes amazes me how when some people reach a goal they hear they need to meet they don’t know what to do with it once they get there. It is true the more time you spend on Google+ will increase your ranking on the search engines, but just because you are on the first page of Google does not mean your business is going to reap any profits from it from just being there. It is what you do and say to get to the first page of Google that entices consumers to bite.
Google+ Will Get You There!
Really, you could sit over on Google+ and hammer out a trillion posts a day that are only linked to your website and eventually you will see your efforts beginning to climb the rankings of Google Search. That is all in good, but that is not what the consumer is after.
You can ask any number of your customers or friends what they see is the issue with the internet and somewhere in the top three things mentioned will have to do with Trust!!!! Consumers are not Trusting anything they see on the Internet and there are some good reasons why. The most given reasons deal with the reality that business people insist on hiding behind what they feel is professionalism when in fact their sterial image blends in with the unprofessional image of the many scammers roaming the internet.
There is no limit on how much you can spend on Facebook and Twitter pages to make you look good, but it there is no outreach program or anyone dedicated to visiting with people 24/7 then all that money spend in those spaces are wasted.
Gotta Change Thinking
What separates the businesses who are going to be successful from those who fail by insistis on staying with old traditional methods of marketing in search of that holy ROI, will be how social a business is online.
I have not found an industry or profession (yet) that could not benefit from being on Google+ and being part of the growing change to Social Search. Consumers are after info about the product or service they are about to spend money..most of the time going into debt to get it… to purchase. The wounds from the scams of the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s are still bleeding for many people struggling to keep their business going or stay employed. The least amount of risk a person can take with a purchase is a mandate now.
Get After It!
Just because someone or thing is on the first page of Google is no guarantee the business is trustworthy and consumers are going to hit their link. What improves the odds the consumer will eventually get to your business is when someone…an employee or owner…is online reaching out to people to be social.
Being social online is now the mark of professionalism. Businesses should take advantage of their ranking on Google by getting there thru the Social part of social networking and not thru the paid for positioning It is good to get that first page ranking so do something with it once you get there. Make sure the consumers get what they want and that is to see YOU..the employee or owner of the business… in the mix on the first page of Google.
Google+ makes getting to the first page of Google Search real easy for businesses to do. All they need to do is get on Google+ and Get After It!.
