Facebook May Have Gone Too Far On the Information It Gathers: What Blood Type?

June 8, 2011 By Scot Duke

Please, someone tell me Facebook asking us for our Blood Type is a joke.  No?  It is not?!?.. Why on earth would that kind of information be needed?  OH!  I see.  The information is not needed here on earth.. , now that make scene..(tongue firmly in cheek) geez.

From the beginning Facebook what is asked in the personal profile is nearing TMI .  Now, what Facebook is asking people to provide is just over the top ridiculous.  The question will be, how many people will be foolish enough to provide the information?  Then how many people will provide the correct information?

It already has been estimated over 60% of the profiles on Facebook either are fake, false, gamed or abandoned.  Why does Facebook feel asking someone for their Blood Type is going to be of benefit to anyone?  Oh, well..its Mark’s site.  Guess for now he can do WTF he wants to.

The rule of thumb I use is… if there is something I don’t want know why would I post it?   I it is something wouldn’t share with my golf buddies it surely something that doesn’t belong online. This is the advice I give to clients who might be new to social media. This advice also would apply to pictures and videos as well. The internet is a wonderful thing if used correctly. And Social Media connects everyone in ways unthinkable just a few years ago. But it’s important to know how much is Too Much Information online. Just because Facebook asks for it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to provide it.

Let me know how I can help.
