How to Make Time for Golf

January 8, 2011 By Scot Duke

clockOne of the biggest issues I hear from golfers has to do with the Time Factor.   Many golfers who have businesses just find playing golf takes up too much of their time.  Truly, finding time to do anything takes effort.  What opens up time during the business day to play golf is when the business golfer adds a purpose to playing Golf.

I spend a lot of time addressing this issue and there are a number of solutions a true business golfer should consider to solving their Time problem.  Some of the time management problems are business related which are all manageable.   Let me run down some simply solutions.

The main issue many business golfers have is finding the time to stop during a work day and actually scheduled the golf outing up.  Yes, that does take time and is more than just picking up the phone to book a tee time.  So how does someone avoid having to do this every time they want to play golf?

Finding time in the workday schedule is also a challenge.  Dealing with problems and planning next steps in business operations always seem to take up all of the time available for business golf.

The solution to having to repeat the effort of getting a tee time set up for a business golf outing and overcoming the challenge of finding the time to breaking away from the office is to…

Schedule a Weekly, Bi-Weekly or Monthly golf outing.

This way the business golf is on the calendar.  Long range planning can be done eliminating the repeated effort in making the golf outing happen.  The golf outing now has a purpose.

Setting up the tee-time once every month or so is a one time set up and then it rolls.  However, it usually works better in the Country Club environment.  In the public or muni golf courses the advance scheduling of tee times might be frown on.

There are other things business golfers can do to avoid missing out on the outstanding opportunities business golf brings to a business.  I’ll try to bring forward a few more solutions to this issue and others in the up coming months.

Let me know how I can help.
