OH, You Play Golf? Now What Do You With It?

August 19, 2010 By Scot Duke

Man Scratching Head I run into people each month who give me some really interesting statements about their golf game.  I had a few say.. “Oh, I use to play golf, but lost interest since Golf doesn’t seem to have a purpose after awhile”. Or, “Yes, I play golf but never figured out what to do with it.”  Or,”A friend got me to play golf.  I really enjoyed it, but he moved away.  So, I don’t play anymore”

Interesting in this day of..Got to get ahead…how people do not look to golf as a way to improve their life and business.  Sometimes improving a person’s life can be challenging, but as far as golf improving business, it is a natural when used correctly.

Golf really is an under rated business tool.  Too many look to golf as just a recreation or a pastime, for which it is.  However, when used effectively…or with purpose…the golf played for business becomes Business Golf.

Playing golf with others is way more than a business networking opportunity.  Again, with a little thought the experience of playing golf with others can turn into a great way of doing business.

Sub-Par Skills Needed!?!

“I don’t play well enough to play with others, so why continue to play golf?”  One of the biggest draw backs to playing golf is learning to play golf.  Unlike any other activity, golf takes a bit more time to learn how to play proficiently.  The tendency is to be impatient with the time it takes and blame lack of coordination or physical skills as what is causing the delay in learning.  It is true, golf can be tedious to those who do not have a purpose or understanding.  However, the end result can improve your business… which improves your life.

Again, learning to play golf as part of learning to do business provides purpose and patience.

Compounding Problem

Business is hard enough.  Why add misery with adding golf to the problems of business?” It is true, learning to play golf can be hard if you teach yourself.  The preferred method of learning golf is from an instructor..the fun way is with a group at a golf school.  Golf is not a hidden talent buried inside each of us.  Golf has to be taught.   How you gain knowledge in how you do business is no different than how you learn to play golf.  You gain the knowledge in business from a mentor or institution..you gain knowledge on how to play golf from a one-on-one instructor or at a golf school.  Any other way and…yes…you are compounding the problem.

Solutions

Having a greater purpose to playing golf other than a Saturday morning ordeal helps round out a person’s golf experience.  Finding a place to get started in a new direction in golf is now much easier.

The Business Golf Country Club offers many solutions to golfers who are looking to add more purpose to their golf experience, find reason to play more golf or is in search for trustworthy associates to business network.  The solution to improving business is in how you go about building trust and maintaining customer service.

The BGCC is a private club offering opportunities to learn more about how business is done today; Golf schools with more than just golf: clinics to fix more than a slice or hook and a combination of all these programs are offered BGCC members.  If you are after a greater purpose in golf, the Business Golf Country Club is the club for you.
