My mantra is…

Why I Am Here:

At the age of 40 I made a pivotal life decision. I dropped playing (and watching) flag football, softball, fishing, hunting, boating, team penning, skeet shooting, coaching youth soccer…. and started playing GOLF.

I was terrible, but I persisted. This, of course, is the key to golf, you have to suck at it before you get better.

After five years of going to golf schools around the country I still wasn’t great. But I got to play a lot of nice golf courses and country clubs free of charge. You didn’t hear me complaining.

Now I play a lot more quality golf and watch all the golf tournaments I can to learn even more about how golf can improve a person’s life as well as business.

Then the big change in my life came about…I retired from Corporate America.

Like the thousands of other junior executives let go in the world recently the questions I asked myself…

Now What?

After making the obligatory post retirement ‘coffee shop network chats’ with dozens of business acquaintances to find where I would fit in the world of business, it was my best friend and executive director of the PGA that set me on my mission today by telling me they have a problem he knows I can help them solve.

Seems my business experience in playing golf with clients as part of doing business and my many years of producing quality golf events around the country made me the right person to address the tremendous pull back Business Golfers where making in the golf economy. It did seem like a perfect fit since I make everything I did in my career a study of how to do something correctly.

After a year and half of studying the situation and playing hundreds of rounds of golf with friends and complete strangers I saw where the problem business people were having with golf.  Their frustrations were creating the withdraw from golf.  However, I found the solution which I am putting in a book.

One thing lead to another, and, well, here we are today.

Now I write a golf blog and sit as founder, owner and President/CEO of IBGS (Innovative Business Golf Solutions, LLC) and founder of the only true business/social networking group for golf, the Business Golf Country Club.

So, what is it I do? Well, I have become a mentor, business coach and social media professional for a few dozen entrepreneurs and executives. I help business people through the ‘thinking out’ process when it comes time to change their business direction. I mentor the younger generation in the important things in life and I blog/promote businesses online.  And..I guide the lost business golfers who have fallen for all the deceptions of internet marketing.

Plus,  from my over 31 years of operations management and my love for golf are coming more tolls for business people to use to compete in their markets.

All of this convinces me that once you get the golf bug you have it for life. If you’re here, then I tend to think you have it also.  There are far worse things you could be involved with…believe me.

I have already driven down miles of the ‘information highway’ and have hit many of its potholes. Hopefully what I share here in my blog will help you avoid the scams many interneters and business people fall for in the New Wild-West called Cyberspace.

My golf writing philosophy is simple: If it interests me, then I figure there’s a pretty good chance it will interest you.
