I take my time online serious..don’t you?..well you should! There are much better things to be doing with your time than whaling away at posting your thoughts in less than 140 characters or razzing Bubba Watson on Twitter. Well, maybe not the razzing of Bubba Watson since he seems to enjoy that..but overall, there are much better things to be doing than wading through hundreds of requests emails to you on who is following you.
Oh, you are not checking who is following you?..well, then you are probably pulling in a lot of ..aaah..less than desirable characters in your Twitter Following that is causing YOU more harm than good. How? Well, today, with the spamming and scamming up over 400% from last year it is for sure if you re not screening your Followers on Twitter more than 60% of the Followers are there for nothing but to Spam your Followers and who you are Following. That doesn’t help anyone does it?
So, as an effort to help you keep from wasting a LOT of time and connect with Good, Solid Followers..here is how Follow Friday on Twitter should be done.
Below, I am listing a few of my Followers who I can vouch are REAL People and offer Value to your efforts on Twitter. Needless to say, I recommend you Following them and I tell you why?
@johnlusher
@johnlusher has been on my Follow list for over a year now and has provided me with links to some very interesting and valuable lessons in Social Media. He also is a fan of the movement to bringing Twitter and the entire internet around to being a safe place to spend someone’s valuable time.
@rexdixon
@rexdixon has been watching my back out here in La-La-Land since late 2004 and razed me into getting on Twitter when it began. So I know what works and doesn’t work on twitter and the Entire Internet. Rex brings a sanity to Twitter and insight on the realities of the internet all done to a Guns and Roses theme.
@17thfairway
As far as the women of Golf on Twitter goes, @17thfairway does offer a delightful humorous view of golf, business and life as seen through a Martini Glass..I am kidding of courses, but I am serious that she is someone to follow if you are looking for someone who is serious about who they follow.
@golfgirl
Now as far as Women Fashion of Golf, @golfgirl has that and a lot more covered or uncovered depending on how you want to look at it. She has a delightful and light hearted view of golf that transcends into a unique form of Social Media.
@andybrowngolf
When it comes to Dudes who have golf and the Home of Golf covered, there is no other person who can deliver that than @andybrowngolf. He literally lives and breaths St Andrews golf since he lives there. Don’t be surprised to see a video or two or hundred of the place where golf started.
@thegolfclub
Now here is someone I call the “OMG” of Golf News world. @thegolfclub hosts a Saturday morning golf talk show that covers everything about golf. Her base is Hawaii but she touches the world through the internet. To follow her is to be more than just in touch with world of golf she is becoming the voice of the everyday golfer.
@thetigerdouble
OK, what can you say about anyone who looks just like Tiger Woods. @thetigerdouble is a Real person with a real job just like us and offers yet another look at the Real world of social media and yes..GOLF.
These are just a few of the followers I have on Twitter that are worth following…actually, all my Followers are hand picked by me and I review their activity frequently to see if they are still holding up their end of the deal I make with them to allow them to follow me. That deal is clear in my Twitter Manifesto ..they have to be Real Person who understand social media and how to use Twitter as more than a place to Spam people with Links, Quotes and endless RT of other people’s tweets.
I will be back again on Friday to list more of my top ‘A List’ Followers. Until then, let me know how I can help.

Thank you for the recommendations, I work with ClubPay and several of our friends, partners and clients have all encouraged us to join Twitter. This is great but I have struggled with how to participate. It has been difficult to enjoy twitter due to not having any interesting conversations to participate in. I appreciate your blog and approach to relationship building, my hope is by connecting with others with your same philosophy twitter will be fun and no longer a chore. Since I am a newby I am also interested to see what type of information others are interested in reading. I'm sure people don't care if I am going to the market but may be interested in our new blog post; at the same time I don't want to annoy anyone either. Thanks for your guidance, I find it helpful.

Christine,
Thanks for your comment on my blog. Twitter started out as a mystery for many and its founders never thought it would be more than a way for people to chat. I prefer the chat method of marketing better than blatant 'In-Your-Face' advertising. The face to face style of marketing is the basis for Social Media and is very, very effective in this economy. I suggest to all my clients that they think of Twitter as a Happy Hour Networking opportunity where you listen more than take action. Action on Twitter is in the form of commenting casually or lightly to someone's Tweet..this builds relationships that go beyond marketing.. because before someone responds to you they are going to check out what you do..that is where Twitter becomes very, very valuable. Stay causal on Twitter, drop a Bomb (something related to your business once or twice a day) in a causal format and leave all the marketing and advertising to LinkedIn. Glad to have you on board with me here in La-La-Land.
PS: I know of a few clubs that I think are using your service.
