I know, I am blogging a lot about Business and Social Networking lately. I promise you is not due to me working on a shroud SEO campaign..it is because the Business Golf Country Club is making a dramatic change soon and the Business Networking opportunity just happens to be on my mind.
I am seeing some very encouraging signs in the economy..finally. I am excited to see logic is starting to prevail in people’s thinking and understanding of social media. The indicator I see most encouraging is the Offline gatherings that are developing.
Compared to last year, and the five years before that, I have been to more Fresh New and Very exciting gatherings since August than I have for the past four years. According to the invitations I am receiving daily from my Twitter connections and BGCC members around the world, if funds were available it is conceivable for me to attend three gathers (breakfasts, luncheons and evening gathers) a day until the first of the year.
I think people are finally getting it. You can’t stay totally online to do your social media like many of the Jedi Knight Ninja social mediaist out in la-la-land are saying you should do.
As I mentioned, over and over, it is good to be a member of an online social or business networking group (or club). However, how you are seen online has now got to be balanced with how you are seen offline.
Planting a logo in the avatar on a social networking groups site or mini-blogging platforms use to be a way to brand your business. What caused the change to the need to post a nice clear photo of the person who owns or works for the business is due to the large huge astronomical incalculable amounts of out of control deception and spam that has developed online during this past year. Now, sadly, logos are turn offs.
Oh, this is not to say logo’s serve no purpose in today’s social media. In fact they play an important part of social media once the basic interests or the consumers are met. Those basic interest consumes are demanding now is to know who the person of the business is, not the brand. Once they get to know the person and trust is developed, the the Brand makes sense.
This is why the Offline gatherings over a meal or drinks is now becoming so important. The Holidays make the business and social networking gatherings a natural part of the season. However, the interest of business people to get out and show people who they are before telling what they do really picked up long before this year’s Holiday season.
I encourage everyone in business..from the cubical rats to the C Suite snobs..to get out, take your business interest to the street and let everyone know who it is who is doing the business our economy is now based upon and lets get the party of developing a new business started.
Let me know how I can help and have a safe Happy start to your Holiday Business/Social Networking Season.
