I am sure you have asked yourself many times..
What is it going to take to beat Tiger Woods?
That answer probably lies in the answer to Why is Tiger Tough to Beat?
You may ask how much does physical fitness have to do with playing at Tiger’s level of golf and the answer would be ‘A Lot’. Heck, just keeping pace with his walk down the fairway could break some golfers into a sweat. To say Tiger wears his opponents down physically is correct. He not only out shoots them on the golf course but also makes them make mistakes that causes them to wear down their physical endurance.
The mental part of the game of golf is not understand by many amateurs. What is going on in tiger’s head can’t be seen from watching golf on TV..or from outside the ropes. What is going on in Tiger’s opponent’s head when Tiger placed his shot in the woods? You can see his opponent starting to lick his chops at a wide open fairway? And what do you see in Tiger’s face…What..Tiger worried?
Yaw, and what about those angry swings of the club into the ground and the mumbling of profanity that Tiger has started to utter. Is it another way Tiger has come up with to lure his opponents into thinking..’OH, Yaw..I got the Tiger by the tail’. Those false hopes is how Tiger wears down his opponents mentally.
Tiger is now 32 years old..and old man today’s PGA Tour standards and in somewhat the twilight of his career. And like the senior mail lion in the pride he will be tested by the younger and less experienced to see if they can take over the lead. What takes place now is experience and strength determines dominance. Right now Tiger has both making him a prime contender for all to take a shot at taking his dominance of world number golfer.
What makes Tiger hard to beat is not what you see, but what you can’s see..what’s in his head. When others see trees and water, Tiger see a flagstick on a green. When others would punch out behind a rock, Tiger would will it to be moved. And when an opponent would think two putt for par..Tiger is thinking Birdie.
There is a lot to be said about Tiger and is game of golf. I am sure we have many more years to see what he accomplishes. However, how will Tiger fair in business after golf? Will he be unbeatable in the business arena? Will he bring that mental toughness to business?
In the business world he will be the younger lion challenging some very mentally tough Alpha Lions of the business clan. Again, we will see how Tiger stands in the business market. Maybe he will teach us a thing or two..or maybe not.
Can he be beat? Time will only tell.
