3rd Person Fundraiser: Where Are They?

August 14, 2009 By Scot Duke

Some people would call them an ‘agent’, which I guess that is what they really are, but whatever they’re are called it is true that many companies today being solicited for funds deal better with a 3rd party.

If you are in business how many times has your phone ringed or email pinged with someone soliciting for funds or either a charity or a business venture?  If you have not been contacted then just wait, your time is coming.

There is nothing wrong with soliciting for funds. Fundraising for charity or for a business improvement project is just part of business, but when someone comes in representing an organization or a company it takes on a little better light since it now places the solicitation in an unemotional negotiation.  Sometimes a 3rd party can take the pitch out of the solicitation and layout the benefits of the projected outcomes in a logical manor.

It has been by experience that many businesses who would say ‘Sorry’ to a company directly would react to a 3rd party pitch with at least a ‘Maybe” if not to ‘Let me make a phone call’.

Of course, if the answer is ‘No’ it is ‘No’, but the majority of the time the ‘No’ will come across less negative to a 3rd Party than to the company direct.

Its unfortunate more people who have connections to the few remaining profitable businesses do not agent out to companies who are looking for funds for an event or business venture.  I know it would help me.

Let me know how I can help you.
