Yes, there are questions even I can’t answer. Sometimes I can’t even give a good guess. Nonetheless, they are good questions and there questions that need an answer. I thought I would list a few of these questions here to see if one of you may have an answer or want to give it a shot on what you think the answer would be.
What Do People Expect to Get Out of Joining LinkedIn?
I guess this question could expand to cover any of the social and business networking groups, but LinkedIn seems to be a true mystery why people join it and what they expect out of joining it. Yes, I am aware that it is business networking group and I will admit it is well done. Yes, I am prominently on LinkedIn and have been there since I came online in 2003, but what am I expected to get out of LinkedIn.
It use to get on average of each day a message from a member of LinkedIn wanting to connect offline to discuss business. That hasn’t happened in over a year. OH, I get contacted nearly daily from someone on LinkedIn trying to sell me something, but over a year nobody wants to learn more about all of the things I bring to the business and golf world.
I am seeing people joining the site each day and it is probably one of the online group sites that truly has the number of members it reports to have. However, from recently interviewing of a large number of my contacts on LinkedIn I am finding they also have been seeing a huge decline in LI members networking and an even larger increase in desperate people trying to sale something to everyone that will connect to them on LinkedIn..FAIL.
This does not mean that there is not a flurry of activity when one of the unemployed come on board LinkedIn. Truly, LI is probably one place that is worth posting a profile to display a resume. With the new LI Groups it is good to get involved in discussions. It is good to ask questions and give answers on the Q&A feature, but if you are doing all that and not getting any response, or only getting MLM’s and other people with business opportunities ‘You can’t do without’, or from a LinkedIn Ninja who feels if your do not have 250,000 LI contacts you are a loser, then what is someone to expect to get out of joining LinkedIn?
Why do So Many Tweets on Twitter Want to Have Hundreds of Thousands Followers?
This is a big mystery to me. I have studied this one to dead and simply cannot not find logical reasoning on why anyone would think being connected to hundreds of thousands of people they do not know, and who really could give a crap in knowing them, is of any value for any reason. Yet, I still get people who tell me “Does it matter?”.
The only debate I have been able to wrangle out of anyone has been with a few Professional Social Median who make their living telling people how to get more followers. There logic is based on the ‘Billboard’ marketing era of the 1950’s….put something out in front of millions and thousands are going to read it and out of thousands hundreds will buy something or Check You Out (for the dating crew that over populate the internet). That didn’t work then and still is not working today.
It scares the crap out of me that anyone falls for that. First of all the Billboard Marketing plan worked to a minimum effect and the only businesses receiving sales increases for posting billboards along he highway were the businesses who also advertised on the new invention of that era..the TV. So why would anyone think that style of marketing to hundreds of thousands of strangers who 99% are fearful of clicking on any links to anywhere anyone they do not know may have provided. That train of thinking may have been loaded when it left the station but it was nearly empty when it fell off the tracks lat year.
How Much of Your Dominate Hand is in the Golf Swing?
Yes, I do have unanswered questions about golf. I hear frequently in the hundreds of instructional videos people send me to ‘Check Out’ about where the power is developed in the golf swing..where the extra distance is generated and how the stronger players are at an advantage.
All of these instructors indicate that the Right Hand (for a right handed golfer) is where the strength of the golf swing is generated. That makes sense, but why are there so many contradictions to that statement?
I have reviewed freeze frame videos of Fred Couples and Vijay Singh where it clearly shows their Right Hand completely off the club handle at impact. So, where did the Right hand effect those swings that produce massive hits on the ball?
I have asked this question for a few years to many teaching professionals around the country on how much Right Hand is involved in the swing..the only analytical instructor I could get to answer this question says the dominate hand plays about 60% of the shot verses the 40% the Left hand plays. That is the only logical answer I have received, but in practice for me does not produce anymore power or distance.
So that question remains a mystery..
There are a number of other questions I have I am looking for answers. Most involve human nature and why people act the way they do out here in La-La-Land. Yes it does matter if the economy is to survive so we can continue to enjoy the internet. Why people react to the things on the internet like they do is very concerning to not just me, but thousands of people wanting to come online but fear these people’s thinking would be counter productive (which it is).
Then for golf questions and the mysteries of the game that make golf so much more entertaining than other sports.
Maybe you have the answer I am looking for (or I can believe)…I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
