As the economy starts bouncing around the bottom more and more large businesses are going to start shacking off more and more employees. Most of the reasons for their shake offs do not make sense and really does not help the economy but I will leave that discussion for another time.
What the layoffs of large businesses is causing is a job market larger than the market. So many of these now newly unemployed business people people are inventing new businesses. Many of these former employees of large companies have spent years working on one small part of the large business’ operations. On the most part that puts a lot of them at an disadvantage since their skill set is for a process that many of the surviving businesses may not need or want.
So, what do these talented and skillful people do?
Most of them are looking back into what they know how to do and enjoy doing to create a business that allows them to use that set of skills. This is developing a large number of businesses to service a portion of a business’ operations…what is commonly now has a Niche business.
Marketing a Niche
So how would a business go about marketing their services to a Niche Market? What I have found that works best is to combine traditional business networking with nontraditional business networking. You need to combine going to the old ‘Runny Egg Breakfast’, ‘Rubber Chicken Luncheon’ or ‘Vegetable Medley Dinner’ Business Networking groups with finding more people with the same interests.
Non-Traditional Methods
Many times a niche business owner will have to go beyond the traditional methods of business networking to find business people who are closer to understanding the business or the niche. This brings the internet into the mix. It is easy to find a group or a club that offers what you are interested in. There could even be a business networking group online for the niche business.
Business Networking for a niche business more than likely would be better done online until there is more niche business networking done offline.
Golf Niche
The same goes for golf. There are many parts of the golf industry that have become niche type businesses. The best place to market their needs is in a niche business networking groups. In this case, the Business Golf Country Club plays a huge part in helping these niche golf businesses to connect with people who understand the business.
The secret to Niche marketing online is to find your place online and get to know people instead of trying to sell them.
