The Value of a Private Business Networking Club

June 15, 2009 By Scot Duke

I am asked all of the time..

What is the Value of becoming a member of the Business Golf Country Club?

I enjoy answering this question since I put all of the things that work and none of the stuff that does not work for business networking into the BGCC.  I spent over 8 years of attending Business Network Group gatherings and joining Business Networking groups, online and offline, only to find that most fail to meet business people’s needs.

To be fair, there were a few of the over 25 business networking groups I joined that I did get close to meeting and serving a business need which formed a basis on what I would put into the business networking groups I have created.

Naturally, the Business Golf Country Club is a niche club.  The BGCC is designated as a club instead of a group primarily due to there being a review process to joining the BGCC.  Plus, a club has more of a feel of community that a group.

The Club’s niche obviously is it is for Golfers, but more significantly it is for business golfers which is the basic value of the club.

Business Golfers are people who use golf as a business tool or in business and play golf.  The Golf industry is full of these individuals and until this past January did not have anywhere online or offline to go to become part of a viable community.

So what are some of the things that work in business networking and are part of the value of the Business Golf Country Club?

Balance

An equal about of social relevance and business marketing is the goal for the content provided both online and offline.  In today’s economy the consumer and business networker are looking for people and businesses that met their personal as well as professional needs.  Many times a business network will focus too much on requiring its members to produce business leads to keep their membership.  The BGCC looks to offering a balance by developing an environment where members get to know each other first which ultimately leads to getting to know their business interests.

Privacy

Business people do not have time to waste dealing with incompatibilities of business interests.   The goal of most business people is to manage their time towards doing the things that are important to them.  In the majority of cases I reviewed I found business golfers goal is to spend more time with family.

Screening out all of the people who are out to waste time is what business people want out of a business networking club today.  What draws in the serious business person is privacy.  Knowing that everyone who is a member of the club went through the same screening process settles the nerves when an email or message is received from someone else who is a member of the club.  A more openness is developed when their is an exclusiveness feel to being a member.

Purpose

The feel of being part of a community rather than a number on someone’s list provides purpose to being a member of a business networking club.  Being part of something special also builds pride and enthusiasm.  A club that offers outings and opportunities to meet other members in a private and exclusive environment also produce a feeling of purpose.

Like-mindedness

There is nothing like knowing everyone in the room has one thing in common.   Many groups have too wide of diversity of business interests or push other interests aside to focus on issues presented by others who press the group’s leadership for more importance.  Knowing going in that the club has a common interest relieves the pressure of having to sell yourself every time you talk to someone.

There are many, many more positive attributes of business networking that I reviewed over the years.  The Value of being a member of the BGCC is just starting.   Overtime more services and products will be added.  Once the club’s membership gets to critical mass then more things of more value will be offered.

If you are looking for a club that offers balance, purpose and value all in a safe private environment then the Business Golf Country Club is the place to belong.  Memberships are currently being reviewed and you can submit your request to join at http://bizgolfcc.com

Membership Requirements:

  1. Must have a true interest in golf
  2. Play golf as part of doing business or want to learn more on how to play golf in business.
  3. Must at all times post a clear photo of yourself.
  4. Provide a complete profile that tells more about who you are and what you are looking for in golf and business.

For now the BGCC membership is free.  So, join now to enjoy what the club offers and get ready for the club to take off.
