Is the Nike SQ DYMO STR8-Fit Driver longer than the TaylorMade R9?
Yes, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Mr Business Golf has been asked to give his honest opinion of the new Nike drive verses the new TaylorMade driver. Over the next week or so, I will be comparing the performance of the new adjustable head Nike SQ DYMO STR8-Fit Driver against the TaylorMade R9, which is TaylorMade’s version of the adjustable driver head.
This is going to be a stretch for me since I am a long time Titleist user who recently found the Ping G10 driver to edge out the Titleist 909. So, for me to go looking at Nike’s verses a TaylorMade is, needless to say, going to be different but yet…exciting.
So, let me breakdown what Nike has cooking in their series of new adjustable head drivers.
There are two driver head styles in the New Nike war chest. The SQ DYMO STR8-FIT and SQ DYMO² STR8-FIT drivers are engineered from the ground up with the express purpose of optimizing the launch and spin by loft. Distance is maximized in every loft by varying multiple specifications from lie angle, to MOI and CG placement, to overall head size and face depth.
The SQ DYMO STR8-FIT is the rounded shaped version and the SQ DYMO² STR8-FIT is the squared head version that you see a lot of the tour pro’s using. I have chosen the rounded head regular shaped head because..well….I think the square head is ugly and gets into my head..now we don’t want to start off on a bad foot or anything, but if from the ‘get go’ you have this dislike of the way the golf club looks it will be hard to be comfortable hitting it…right?. So let me begin with giving Nike a point for offering a choice…golfers like choices..especially business golfers like me.
As I mentioned, over the next week or so I will be back giving more on what I see in the two drivers and providing my overall review of how the Nike 8 compared to the TaylorMade R9…so…
It is going to be the 8 vs 9 series of reviews..
