How to Make Time for Business Golf

April 27, 2009 By Scot Duke

clockOne of the biggest pull backs I hear from people who do not play business golf has to do with the Time Factor involved with playing golf.  Truly, finding time to do anything takes effort but more importantly it takes purpose or want more than anything.  Business people who do not WANT to do anything usually end up doing that..not anything.

I spend a lot of time addressing this issue and there are a number of solutions a business person who is a true golfer can take to solving the Time problem.  Let me run down the simply ones.

The main issue many business golfers have is finding the time to stop and actually set the golf outing up.  Yes, that does take time and is more than just picking up the phone to book a tee time.  So how does someone avoid having to do this every time they want to play golf?

Finding time in the workday schedule is also a challenge.  Dealing with problems and planning next steps in business operations always seem to take up all of the time available for business golf.

The solution to having to repeat the effort of getting a tee time set up for a business golf outing and overcoming the challenge of breaking away from the office is to…

Schedule a Weekly, Bi-Weekly or Monthly golf outing.

This way it is on the calendar so long range planning can be done and not a repeated effort to have to be taken to make it happen.  It is a one time set up and then it rolls.  However, it usually works betting in the Country Club environment.  In the public or muni golf courses the advance scheduling of tee times might be frown on.

There are other things business golfers can do to avoid missing out on the outstanding opportunities business golf brings to a business.  I’ll try to bring forward a few more solutions to this issue and others in the up coming months.  Let me know how I can help.
