WOW….is a word that says a lot!
WOW is the only word that pops into my mind when I think about how fast the Business Golf Country Club has grown in its first month.
WOW, also expresses my gratitude towards the many members of the club who have adopted the BGCC as their home base for all of their Business and Social Networking.
I am also blown away with the in depth conversations on some of Golf’s and Business’ major issues. The club has drawn in some outstanding experts in the field of business marketing, golf operations and the golf profession. These are the voices of Golf speaking and I am going to do what I can to make sure they are heard.
I am also elated with the number of reports I am getting from members who are making solid personal and business connections with other members of the club..
AND, of course…all of your Thank You’s that are being blog, posting on different sites, Tweeted and emailing directly to me expressing your appreciation for providing you with this platform are very humbling to me since my intention was to gather quality people in a safe environment which it seems I have succeeded doing.
All this makes me even more excited to see what the next month will look like.
Club Report
Being the administrate of the Club (Club Manager) I get to see a lot in the club you probably are not aware of going on around you. To keep you updated with important developments highlighted in the club and behind the scenes I will be providing a periodic report to you..The Member. Yes, I have in mind of creating a Newsletter to email to you, but these things are going to take some time and eventually human resources, so I hope you will bear with me.
BGCC is a Club..NOT a Group.
First of all, I am seeing and hearing many people (some non-members of the BGCC) calling the Business Golf Country Club a “Group”. To make things clear, the BGCC is not a Group..it is a “Club”.
Definition:
A club is an association of people united by a common interest or goal who have expectations and obligations as members, and share a common identity.
A group is defined as two or more humans that interact with one another.
What is the big deal of being called a group or a club? Well, there is a developing negative connotation developing online and offline with the term “Group” (not there are not some reservations with the term Club) and since the basic difference in a club vs a group is in a club you join for a purpose and you enter a group for an interest, the Club description fits the BGCC better. Plus, since there is much, much, much more to come for the members of the BGCC so the “Club” description fits the BGCC the best.

UPDATES:
Groups: As you have seen, I have created a few Groups. Some of the groups will be Private Groups for a particular business’ members or employees to gather in private and other groups will be open for all members to join. If you are interested in a private group please let me know the nature of the group you want to have and I will set your group up as long as the group meets some basic guidelines.
New Apps: NING has reported that there are a large number of new applications being released soon. I will update you on their release and highlight some of the apps you may want to use on your page.
First Club-Up: There is a gathering (or Club-Up as I am calling them) being planned for members to attend being held in the Palm Springs area on April 4th. This one is coming up soon and details on what is going on will be out as soon as I can get them hammered down. Right now, you can count on me being out there and a ClamBake Cafe show being recorded there…so if you are going to the Kraft Nabisco this would be a good time to meet each other offline.
CHAT: From time to time I open the Chat while I am online. There, I will be providing information that is happening right then..I will leave the chat on for a period of time so you can drop by and see what I have to say. Feel free to chat with me if you are online at the same time.
ClamBake Cafe Podcast: Dave Bisbee and I will be expanding the ClamBake Cafe (the official Podcast for the BGCC) to include a segment of the show where we interview a member of ‘The Club’ on the show. If you would like to be interviewed please ping me stating your interest. The only requirement is you have to have a SkyPe account and use headset microphones since open onboard mics with speakers on desktops and laptops deteriorate the quality of the connection and recording.
Advertising On Site: I have received a few inquires from members who asked if they could place an ad on the site. Currently, NING will not allow us to do that, however, there are plans in the Next Phase of the evolution of the BGCC to offer members advertising space on the site. Target for that release has not been determined but Mid-Summer is a vision I have for that to happen. If you are interested in hitting the BGCC market with your advertising the ClamBake Cafe has some advertising opportunities you can check out by sending an email to me at scot (dot) duke @ Clambakecafe (dot) com.
That is about it for this BGCC Report…keep those ideas coming and the feedback is great..please…let me know how I can help.
