Many times, after doing something stupid like getting into a losing battle with a nagging troll on Facebook, it is just best you move on. Sometimes leaving the social network all together is the only way to eliminate the damage done. So, why are these people who are constantly getting slammed by the deviants of Facebook not moving on?
Professional Trolls
Most people who have had a run in with the persistent professional trolls on Facebook wave off that there was any damage done to their image when in fact there was a lot of damage done. Most of the harm comes from when their so-called friends stop associating with them due to their fear that the troll would come after them.
That is the nature of the Facebook Trolls…they are like a weapon of mass destruction. They feed off others attaching them and get stronger knowing that Facebook turns their head to their comments because Facebook sees the exchanges as just normal interaction.
Just Not That Many Real People Left on Facebook
Yes, “Normal” interaction. Meaning Facebook likes trolls hammering their users since they keep the exchange of comments at a high level which relates to most of their inflated indexes that show their stockholders and sponsors that Facebook has a huge amount of activity.
This still does not answer the question of why people tolerate Facebook. When I ask people why they are still on Facebook the number one answer is…it is where my friends and family are and the only way I can stay in touch with them.
But the real reasons is most of the people I know who remain on Facebook suffer from the real disease known as Facebook Addiction Disorder (FAD). FAD is considered as a subcategory of the broader addition called Internet Addiction Disorder.
These people can’t resist the craving of the abuse Facebook trolls dish out. Just as is the case for smokers or drug addicts.
Excessive use of Facebook affects their social life and their inescapable Facebook life.
The damage is done. The cure is to Move On.
Either go to a safe haven like LinkedIn or Google+ or just get offline. Either way, your true family, and friends will follow you…which is a good thing for all of us.
