The first thing I am asked during the Q&A portion of my Social Media sessions is..What is the single most important part of Social Media?
Blogging Puts You Ahead of the Crowd
My studies make answering this question very easy and with certainty. The Blog is by far the center piece of social media. Business people who do not have a blog are at an extreme disadvantage in the market place..online and offline. Blogging shows the ever growing skeptical consumer base more about the person who owns the business they are going to buy a product from. It shows them who the real person is they will be doing business with.
Of out of all of social networking encompassing social media, the blog holds the most weight.
- For an example, someone on Facebook who sees someone else’s post wants to know more about them looks for the link to their blog. If they don’t have one the deal is passed on to someone who does.
- During a consumer’s Google search over 65% of the referrals to a business web-site are overlooked. Viewers go to find a blog site that posts blogs on the company and its products.
- When someone posts a Tweet about something commercial 85% of those who find the post of interest will pursue trying to find that person’s blog to validate the person posting the info is a real person.
The world of business and consumer spending has changed. In come cases the change is unrecognizable and other changes are very obvious. All the changes made are based on the need for Trust. Trust can only be developed if more about the person who is running the business or owns the business can be found.
If you are not blogging you should consider starting. If you don’t know how you should seek out someone who can help.
